Frequently Asked (MAT) Questions

How many sessions does it take?

This is dependent on your condition. Expect to commit to 5 sessions. Each session lasts 45-60 minutes. A typical schedule is 1 session per week for 3 weeks and then we will spread the remaining sessions over the course of 2-4 weeks.

What should I expect during a treatment?

MAT is performed on a padded treatment table. Imbalances are found through an in depth range of motion exam (ROM) evaluation. When a limitiation in ROM is found, a series of muscle tests are performed to determine if that muscle or group of muscles are receiving proper neural input. If a muscle imbalance is found, the practitioner will correct the imbalance b performing a manual palpation at the attachment sites of the muscle tissue, or low load isometrics to restore proper neural input. Following treatment, the practitioner will go back and check their work by re-evaluating the ROM and retesting the same muscles creating a unique system of checks and balances.

Can I exercise while going through the treatment?

Yes! You will receive some exercises to do between sessions to reenforce the work we have done during the session. If your condition is not as chronic as others you can resume your regular exercise as instructed.
